Some call it “momentary magic”. Watch out for bright colours and ingenious shapes exploding in magnificence, transforming Vancouver’s night sky. The 22nd Annual Celebration of Light is surely going to be one of the most spectacular outside events of our warm balmy July weather. Averaging over 400,000 spectators a night, it is the world’s largest offshore fireworks competition. Every year three different countries compete in the event, vying for the #1 spot. This year Vietnam, Brazil and Italy will be featured. This is Vietnam’s first international fireworks show. Prior to the shows a diverse range of folk, blues and jazz musical shows will be on daily, starting as early as 2pm to celebrate. A wide range of business partners are involved in this event, Honda is the title partner for this year and has signed on for another two years.
Saturday July 28th – Vietnam Fireworks Show. 10pm
Wednesday August 1st – Brazil Fireworks Show. 10pm
Wednesday August 4th – Italy Fireworks Show. 10pm
We all want to get close to this extraordinary feat of accomplishment for a better look and to join in the loud chorus of oohs and aahs, linking with others in awe. For visitors and locals alike we highly recommend arranging safe transportation ahead of time whether your party chooses a designated driver, travels via the bus, taxi or sky train, or pre-books a limousine service. Naturally, public transportation routes and services will be overloaded. On such occasions parking becomes non-existent or very limited. Many streets will be inaccessible via car, and roadblocks will be numerous. The best way and often the only way to get around is to walk. If you choose to drive you will need to find pay parking, parking outside the fireworks show area very early in the day and walk in. If you cannot stand crowds this is likely an event to participate in from a distance. Planning in advance and knowing what works for you is the key to an enjoyable and stress free event.
